Leicester turns to CAS after appeal to FIFA over Adrien Silva fails

Published by:

Leicester City are considering going to the court of arbitration for sport (CAS) to plead their case after FIFA turned down their appeals to legitimise Adrien Silva’s registration.

The Foxes’ appeal to to secure the registration of Portugal midfielder Silva was rejected by world football’s governing body on Wednesday morning, after Leicester and the Football Association had asked to ratify the transfer as the paperwork for Silva’s £22m deadline day move from Sporting Lisbon had been declared to have been submitted 14 seconds late. – Cara Mendaftar Sbobet

Instead of opting to make an exception with the slight delay, FIFA withheld the International Transfer Certificate, as the data input into its Transfer Matching System was received by the FA moments after the deadline.

After the world governing body also refused appeals to the case, Silva will remain registered to play for Leicester until January. It also leaves him in limbo, being unable to train with Leicester and having been left out of Portugal’s squad for their final World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Switzerland this month. – Cara Daftar Sbobet

A Leicester spokesman said: “The Foxes’ appeal to to secure the registration of Portugal midfielder Silva was rejected by world football’s governing body on Wednesday morning.” – Bandar Bola

“We cannot hide our disappointment or that of the player at the short-term consequences of the decision. Leicester City are considering going to the court of arbitration for sport over the signing of Adrien Silva.”

“We maintain, and have made strong representations to the Players’ Status Committee, that all parties involved in Adrien’s transfer fulfilled their obligations, consistent with regulations and within the required timeframe. The club is reserving its position in relation to whether it will decide to appeal the decision to the court of arbitration for sport.” – Piala Dunia 2018

“The club and its staff will continue to work with Adrien to hopefully minimise the impact that missing a substantial period of the season may have on the player, while continuing to prepare the squad for the games ahead.”

England reaches Russia World Cup finals with Harry Kane winner

England captain Harry Kane scored an injury-time winner to secure qualification for next summer’s World Cup with a 1-0 victory against Slovenia at Wembley.

Kane stretched out to nudge in Kyle Walker’s cross for his 14th goal in his past nine games to finally break down Slovenia’s tough resistance as they looked likely to hold out for a point. – Cara Mendaftar Sbobet

Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling almost broke the deadlock before Kane made his breakthrough, but the hosts must also be grateful to goalkeeper Joe Hart — whose selection into the team came under much criticism — for some crucial interventions that also earned him the official man-of-the-match award. – Cara Daftar Sbobet

While England carry a forward threat in the shape of Kane and Rashford — who will both be supported by the likes Dele Alli when he is free from suspension — the team still looks lacking in inspiration and creativity in front of goal that all but permits nothing but low expectations for Gareth Southgate’s squad in the coming summer.

It was only Kane who provided the single moment of quality that saved England the blushes this time around. In what was his first time skippering for England, his goal saved the team from potentially vicious feedback against a largely forgettable performance. – Bandar Bola

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alli’s replacement for the night, was unable to repay Southgate’s faith in him and thus it came hardly a surprise when he was replaced by Jesse Lingard after 64 minutes. – Piala Dunia 2018

Although his coach has shown great belief in him by starting him against Malta and Slovakia in past qualifiers, his struggles were clear with a scarcity of confidence despite making distinct efforts to help his team in front of one and all.

Still, Gareth Southgate is clear in the belief of his selection of a group of young players. “As a young team and having to deal with the expectation and criticism of their performances, it is tough for them,” he said.

“They are giving everything they’ve got. They don’t have Champions League winning medals between them. We have to give them the belief and the backing to help them achieve. It’s not a relief, I always thought we’d achieve the objective [of qualifying]. Tonight highlighted where we are. We are not going to become Spain in the next eight months.”

Argentina on the brink after goalless draw at Peru

Published by:

Argentina’s place in the 2018 World Cup is very much in question after a goalless draw at Peru and with one game left in their CONMEBOL qualification campaign.

Peru held back everything La Albiceleste and Lionel Messi threw at them in the red-hot atmosphere of La Bombonera, forcing the two-time World champions face the prospect of missing a World Cup for the first time since Mexico 1970. – Cara Mendaftar Sbobet

The top four in the CONMEBOL qualifiers table go through automatically, with the side finishing fifth playing a home and away playoff against New Zealand. However, their fourth qualifier without victory that, coupled with Chile’s win over Ecuador saw Argentina drop to sixth in the CONMEBOL standings and outside the play-off position heading into next week’s final matchday. – Cara Daftar Sbobet

Messi — playing ahead of Paulo Dybala who was an unused substitute along with Mauro Icardi — controlled the game for long periods but failed to capitalise, first flashing his shot just wide of the post from outside the box after a superb run, while his cross to Dario Benedetto just before half-time was headed over. – Bandar Bola

But Messi would have himself to blame as he shockingly hit the outside of the post after quickly pouncing on a spilled save with the entire goal to shoot at. – Piala Dunia 2018

He then tried to play Alejandro Gomez in on goal in the 57th minute, but Pedro Gallese made an excellent save of his close range shot from an angle, while Javier Mascherano fired just high from well outside the box on 77 minutes but Argentina would get no closer on the disappointing day.

One would lament the draw to the absence of Dybala, who had been the most notable casualty despite his stunning form for Italian champions Juventus, as Sampaoli made five changes to the team who were held to a 1-1 draw by Venezuela last month. The Argentina boss said that it was too risky to pair he and Messi given their similarities and lack of time together.

Argentina will finish their qualification campaign against eighth-placed Ecuador on Tuesday, needing a win to guarantee at least a playoff spot, while Peru, who are in the fifth and final qualification place, will host Colombia in Lima.

Gareth Bale to miss World Cup qualifiers and Champions League fixtures

Published by:

Gareth Bale is set to miss out on fixtures for Wales and Real Madrid after sustaining a calf injury that rules him out for up to four weeks.

Bale, 28, discovered the extent of the injury on Monday after flagging up discomfort in his calf after a scan on the hamstring while in Spain. However, Real had been content for the player to link up with the Wales international squad, despite leaving him out of Sunday’s La Liga game against Espanyol. – Cara Mendaftar Sbobet

Club coach Zinedine Zidane said afterwards that Bale had a “small complaint” but added that the player as “fine” and suggested leaving him out was a precautionary measure. – Cara Daftar Sbobet

However, the calf problem that Bale mentioned after arriving in Cardiff prompted fresh concerns and led to Wales sending him for a scan on that area as well as the hamstring, and results show a tear within the calf muscle.

The discovery meant that Bale would had no chance of playing for Wales and faces the prospect of missing key games for real, including the Champions League fixtures against his former club Tottenham Spurs on 17 October and 1 November. – Bandar Bola

Still, Welsh would take the brunt of the impact of Bale’s absence as they are second in Group D of the UEFA region qualifiers for the World Cup — and just one point ahead of Ireland with two games remaining. – Piala Dunia 2018

With Serbia expected to finish top of the group, Wales’s hopes of reaching their first World Cup since 1958 hang on pipping Ireland to the runners-up spot and securing a play-off berth by being one of the eight best second-placed teams which,as things stand they are ninth.

To do so, they need to secure points from potentially tricky away games, first against Georgia this Friday before hosting Ireland on Monday.
