Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has reached an agreement that will keep him with Barcelona until June 2021, with a buyout clause of €200m inserted.
Barca’s official statement at their website said that the contract, which ties the 29-year-old Uruguay international to the club until 2021, would be signed on Friday 16 December at 1.30pm CET at the Club Offices.
Suarez has been prolific since moving to the Camp Nou for £75m two and a half years ago, scoring 97 times in 116 matches in all competitions.
The Uruguayan striker is also part of the ‘MSN’ forward trio at Barca alongside fellow South-America natives Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Together, they net an extensive amount of goals every season since their formation, helping the Catalan club win two league titles, two Copa del Reys, one Champions League, one European Super Cup, one Super Cup and one Club World Cup trophy.
As a result, despite a contract which expires by 2018 the trio continue to be targeted by the top clubs in Europe. Rumours of their possible departure also received fuel in the form of financial difficulties within FC Barcelona.
Argentina international Messi, 29, is contracted to Barcelona until June 2018 but has also started talks about a new contract.
