Mourinho under fire for comments ahead of Liverpool clash

Jose Mourinho’s comments about the appointment of referee Anthony Taylor for Manchester United’s Premier League match at Liverpool will be investigated by England’s Football Association.

“Somebody with intention is putting such a pressure on him. I feel that it will be difficult for him to have a very good performance,” said Mourinho of Manchester-based Taylor, even though managers are not allowed to speak about referees before matches.

The FA would establish the context of the comments before deciding their action – if any.

Manchester United goes into the match against Liverpool on Monday three points behind the Reds. The Red Devils had been struggling for form since their city rivals Manchester City afforded them their first defeat of the season, and could face further setback against in-form Liverpool away on Anfield.
