Borussia Dortmund has poked fun of Real Madrid’s recent struggles against teams that wear yellow kits.
Ahead of their Champions League midweek clash in Group F, the German giants engaged in a humourous act of pre-match banter against the Champions League winners on Twitter.
The taunt was aimed at Real Madrid’s recent struggles against Villareal and Las Palmas. Both matches had ended in draws for Real, which saw their lead on top of La Liga cut down to just one point.
With both stalemates coming against sides who, like Dortmund, play in yellow, the Bundesliga outfit on Sunday took the opportunity for a cheeky quip referencing that fact.
“You’re having a hard time playing teams that wear yellow, do you Real Madrid?” tweeted Borussia on their official account.
While Los Blancos chose not to reply, Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon did – with a tweet alluding to the narrow nature of their defeat to Los Blancos in the sides’ European opener earlier this month.
“And green as well!” chipped in Sporting’s social community managers, before adding: “Best of luck to you both!”
