The Golden State Warriors staves off their seemingly impending elimination from the NBA playoffs by beating Oklahoma City Thunder to make it 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.

The Thunders did no wrong, however. Their dynamic duo, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were able to net 40 and 31 points respectively, adding eight assists and seven rebounds for the team.

But a defiant Stephen Curry rallied his team in their attempt to become just the 10th team to rally from a 3-1 playoff deficit. He raised his arms in the early moments to awaken Golden State’s raucous crowd and bagged 31 points, keeping safe the defending champions who broke records by 73-9 in the regular season.

As the game approached the end, Curry yelled defiantly, “We’re not going home! We’re not going home!”

Klay Thompson added 27 for the Warriors, and they will meet Thunder for Game 6 on Saturday night.

Back on home turf, the Cleveland Cavaliers blitzed straight past the Toronto Raptors from the start to pull ahead to 3-2 as the playoff score levelled after their last game.

Lebron James scored 23 points while Kevin Love scored 25, and the Cavaliers unleashed tenacious defense on Toronto to regain control of the Eastern Conference finals with a rout of the Raptors in Game 5 on Wednesday night.

The four-time MVP also added eight assists and six rebounds in 31 minutes before checking out late in the third quarter with the Cavs up 37. He spent the fourth quarter resting on the bench, watching keenly as Cleveland’s reserves completed the demolishing.

They came into the game following two straight losses across the border, opening with a 34-point lead in the first half and never slowed down since.

Lebron and his team could clinch a second consecutive conference title with a win in Game 6 away at Canada once more.
