Chelsea players let everybody down, says John Terry

In a startlingly honest assessment of his own club, John Terry admitted that Chelsea players “let everybody down”.

It was indeed one of the worst start of the season for Chelsea, with the major Premier League club dropping near the relegation zone.

“We are where we are, and slowly climbing the Premier League table,” the 35 year old said.

The Blues are unbeaten in four games since Jose Mourinho was sacked from the club for the second time.

The Chelsea captain said that the manager’s departure was “unfortunate”.

“We feel like we’ve let everyone down,” he said.

Guus Hiddink, who replaced Mourinho secured his first league win last Sunday against Crystal Palace at 3-0.

“That was the Chelsea of last year, I think,” he said. “Overall, as well as the goals, it was different class.

“Guus has come in, picked things up and we’ve had to go again.”
