Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry revealed his admiration for Lionel Messi and likened the Argentine’s playing style to his own.
The point guard believes he has the same “creative flair” as Messi.
When asked if he was NBA’s Messi or if Messi was football’s version of himself, Curry replied: ‘I don’t know – it’s like a chicken or the egg kind of conversation. We both have a creative style, where it’s just about a feel when you’re out on the pitch or the court.
“I try to do some fancy things out there with both hands, making crossover moves and kind of having a certain creativity and flair to my game.
“And that’s definitely the style that Messi has when he’s out there in his matches. I love watching him play. I’m a big fan. You never know what he’s going to do at any particular moment.
“When he’s on TV, everybody is glued in because, as soon as he gets a touch with the ball, something special could happen. And you’ve got to appreciate that kind of talent.”
Earlier this year, Curry broke the NBA’s three-pointer record by landing 286 in the regular season – surpassing his own record of 272.
The 27-year-old scored 24 of 111 points against the Lakers on Tuesday, leading the Warriors to a record unbeaten run of 16.
Meanwhile, Messi scored a brace against Roma on his first start since recovering from a knee injury, and looks set to win back the FIFA Ballon d’Or from rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
