Atlanta Hawks takes on the Detroit Pistons on home ground at the Philips Arena in today NBA season’s opener.

It was a close game at the multi-purpose indoor arena, which was surprisingly won by the Pistons with an aggregate score of 106 to 94.

After being held to a draw at 25 points in the first quarter, the Pistons went on to win the game by securing two quarters by 23-18, 34-23 before conceding the final quarter by 24-28.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 21 points to lead all five Detroit starters in double figures and ruined the home opener for the team with the best record in the Eastern Conference last season.

Atlanta was looking to build on last season’s franchise-best record of 60-22 and run to the conference final.

Instead, the Hawks picked up where they left off in a sweep by the Cleveland Cavaliers, losing again in familiar fashion.
